Setting

Founded in 1998 by chef Gianmaria Zanotti, the eponymous restaurant has become one of the city’s favourites for Italian classics. Expect a welcoming ambience and a good selection of wines.

Food

Start with Zanotti’s selection of hot and cold appetisers created according to the season’s available ingredients. They include pan-seared foie gras with sweet raspberry sauce, fresh burrata with cherry tomatoes, artichoke salad, cantaloupe with parma ham and a dish of steamed mussels. For pasta lovers, recommended is the delectable home-made squid ink linguini, which highlights the natural sweetness of fresh shrimp, squid and mussels. Stay on the seafood route with catch of the day—you may be presented with a beautifully de-boned baby sea bass. Perfectly grilled over orangewood charcoal with rosemary, thyme, sage and garlic, the tender fish is lightly seasoned with extra virgin olive oil and rock salt. Fans of beef should try succulent seared sirloin accompanied by an assortment of vegetables. Conclude with profiteroles filled with silky vanilla cream and drizzled with hot chocolate or a home-made gelato such as creamy pistachio.

Wine

The wine list includes an impressive selection of mostly affordable Italian labels with more than half leaning towards red varietals.
