Food

While diners are recommended to try the gracefully presented kaiseki courses, the a la carte menu also offers a variety of traditional specialities. Start light with sashimi moriawase, featuring a beautiful display of the day's freshest selections. Follow with tempura moriawase, highlighting shrimp, white fish, sea eel, squid and vegetables lightly battered and deep-fried to a perfect crunch. Also from the sea, buri shioyaki, or grilled yellowtail with salt, is impeccably cooked so that the meat remains juicy and the skin crisp. Beef lovers should try Japanese wagyu tenderloin grilled and served on an earthenware plate. Cooked at medium-rare, each succulent bite is well complemented by the accompaning sweet sauce. End the meal with freshly made desserts. Recommended is matcha warabimochi, soft rice cakes coated with soybean and green tea powder, which come with brown sugar syrup for added sweetness.
