Start with a platter of imported cold cuts and cheese, which come with a glass of red or white wine. The platter is a generous serving so this is an ideal starter to share. Another tantalising opener is rich and creamy shellfish bisque. Slow-cooked for five hours, it is laced with superior cognac and bite-sized pieces of lobster to give it a little crunch. Although the menu is not extensive, there is a reasonable choice of international and Thai dishes. A delicious example of the latter is hor mok maprao onn seafood curry. Instead of being steamed and served in a banana leaf, this version is fried and served in a coconut. Another chef’s recommendation is Shoreline barbecue mixed grill platter with tiger prawn, chicken breast, sea bass fillet, lamb cutlet, baked potato and corn on the cob. It comes as either a single portion or a larger serving for two. Dessert choices include chocolate brownies, apple strudel and tiramisu.

The wine list features a good choice of labels but what stands out are the excellent cocktails made with local Mekhong whisky.
