Food

Saffron at Bantan Tree Samui has developed a fine reputation for excellent Thai dishes and that is evident in the signature starter of khong wang ruam, medley of crispy rice noodle wrapped prawn, grilled chicken satay, sea bass spring rolls, banana blossom prawn salad and three dipping sauces. It is a great opening for two to share. Signature dishes are clearly marked on the menu to help make selections a bit easier and recommended is gai yang khreuang gaeng, which is succulent roasted chicken marinated in a piquant curry sauce. Also enjoyable are the bold flavours of gaeng phed ped yang, or grilled duck breast with sweet basil and red curry. Main course dishes come with a choice of four unique styles of rice. End a lovely meal the traditional way with a serving of mango and sticky rice. Saffron’s version is made with thinly sliced fresh local mango dusted with black sesame seeds and powdered sugar presented on a bed of luscious sticky rice.
