Setting

Roast aims for high-quality comfort food and coffee in a buzzy, light-filled setting. Apron-clad staff are well-trained and the fulsome dishes made with quality fresh produce consistently live up to the promise of the Kinfolk Magazine-style menu full of salivating food snaps. Great for lazy afternoons.

Food

Try piping hot french onion soup and fears of this being just another pretty yet lacklustre all-day eatery will instantly melt away. While some dishes are more successful than others (Johnny’s burger, for example, is a solid effort but not best Bangkok burger material), this sentiment rings true across the expansive menu. Available until 4pm, brunchy comfort snacks range from crab cake benedicts with potato rosti and onion jam to jerk chicken sandwiches and handsome croque monsieurs. Other dishes that leave diners full and happy include tantalising pastas such as the sumptuous truffle alfredo tagliatelle flecked with crisp bacon and mushroom, a clutch of hearty seafood and meat mains, and superlative desserts such as the tart and decadent passion fruit semifreddo with fresh strawberries.

Wine

A limited selection of beer and wine served after 5pm. Instead teas, juices, smoothies, shakes and particularly coffee in all its permutations are the highlight. The baristas here know their stuff.
