WHY GO? A lush, mountaintop setting with views over Patong bay, Le Versace is a favourite with diners who appreciate well-presented French cuisine, although the glitzy decor isn’t to everyone’s taste.
WHAT TO ORDER? Le Versace presents a classic French menu where foie gras is celebrated. Chef Alain Carre and owner Georges Dufresne maintain an elegant table with the popular chef’s menu attracting loyal repeat customers. It features pan-fried prawns served on leeks and champagne sauce followed by ravioli of duck foie gras with white butter sauce. Wagyu steak with cafe de paris sauce is the main offering. The plate is shared with heavenly potato gratin and ends with a surprise dessert. From the a la carte selection, where all items are available in starter and main course portions, goodies to consider include lamb striploin with provencale jus and carpaccio of beef tenderloin with olive oil, parmesan and a fine salad.
DRINKS The wine list follows the elegant menu. Boutique wines from all regions of the world, representing the essential varietals and tastes, are chosen to suit the cuisine.
