Master chef Patrizia Battolu carefully chooses fresh seasonal ingredients from Italy to Australia to prepare her distinctive cuisine. La Gritta sits directly on Patong Bay at Amari Phuket and is perhaps the premier Italian restaurant on the island.

The whole menu is captivating but the diner must have one of the mixed appetiser servings. One features grand reserve parma ham, bresaola, mortadella, cured salami, grissini, Mediterranean olives and pecorino cheese, while the other is a gorgeous display of marinated prawns, garlic baked oysters, baby squid, all marinated and enhanced by a pesto sauce and seasoned artichokes. There are three lovely risottos on the menu and Australian beef that is only available if chef Battolu feels the quality is at the highest standard. Try the signature osso bucco prepared Roman-style and served with a choice of herbed polenta and gremolata or risotto. Cacciucco, an Italian stew with Phuket lobster, tiger prawn, squid, mussels and clams cooked in a thick tomato stew, can only be found at La Gritta. The elegant pasta menu will leave the diner spoiled for choice.
