Setting

No need to hop on a plane for the robust, face-flushing flavours of southern Thai cuisine—just head to Khuakling Paksod. The restaurant is family run and the delicious menu comprised of hand-me-down recipes. In true southern-style, the food is proudly spicy.

Food

Order a few dishes to share. Khuakling moo sab, a southern spicy specialty of minced pork fried with dry khuakling and chilli, is a must. Also good is the southern yellow curry soup with young coconut shoots and either prawn, fish or crabmeat. Other dishes you might also want to try include sataw pad kung, stink bean cooked with shrimp in shrimp paste. The stink beans are not for everyone but the dish is definitely worth a try. Nua pu pad prik kee noo suan (crabmeat stir-fried with fresh chilli) is spicy yet packed full of flavour and highly satisfying. End with a Thai traditional dessert such as sala (snake fruit) in sugar syrup with crushed ice, or young coconut pudding.

Wine

The wine list is modest and mostly by the bottle. More intriguing are the refreshing Thai drinks made from herbs, flowers and fresh juices.
