Located in the Piman 49 community mall, this popular eatery, run by third generation owner MR Srikhamrung Yukol Rattakul, offers a variety of authentic Isan dishes in a colourful and laid-back setting.

In good old Isan fashion, the flavours here are strong and spicy, so be warned. Have a go at the spicy papaya salad with salted crab and fermented anchovies. Let’s face it though, the pungent scent of fermented Thai anchovies (pla ra) can take some getting used to, so an alternative is the papaya salad with salted crab on its own or the signature som tum with deep-fried sea bass. Spicy pork spare rib soup is another succulent pick, a perfect blend of savoury, spicy and sour. Shredded bamboo shoot salad is a must-try, as is the signature crispy skin tender grilled chicken, which is a great way to counter the spiciness of the other dishes. All of these tasty offerings are accompanied by either black sticky rice or regular steamed rice. The dessert menu is minimal but offers a good selection of traditional Thai staples. Conclude with the mildly sweet milk pudding with coconut or the iced zalacca in syrup.
