Setting

Fireplace has been serving top-notch cuisine in a refined modern setting at the InterContinental Bangkok for over four decades.

Food

Start off with a little bit of heat in the form of pan-fried scallops and foie gras in XO sauce. The XO sauce offers a unique taste, although a more traditional approach would probably better highlight the delicate nature of the scallops. With a strikingly good balance of flavours, rich lobster bisque laced with brandy really hits the spot and leaves a delightful lingering aftertaste. Even though it has a nice sear and light aromas, the flaky pan-fried dover sole feels as if it could be a little more moist and might benefit from more robust seasoning. An undoubted highlight of a meal at Fireplace is succulent stockyard wagyu rib-eye, which has an aromatic charcoal scent that pairs well with a shiraz glace and a side dish of creamy spinach. Finish on a sweet note with the restaurant’s signature dessert, a zesty crepes suzette. Flambeed at your table, it is as much a piece of culinary theatre as it is a wonderfully sweet closer.

Wine

Categorised by type rather than region, the extensive wine list features selections of New and Old World wines that pair well with the restaurant’s menu offerings.
