Setting

David’s Kitchen is one of the few restaurants in Chiang Mai which requires a reservation. Its bustling but elegant interior, lovely gardens and sophisticated wine bar combine to make this a destination for a special night out.

Rating : 16/20

Food

The staff are very knowledgeable about dishes and wines and eager to offer recommendations. The restaurant perfects the many classics such as the rich and frothy lobster bisque with a splash of white port, the incredibly tender slow cooked braised beef cheek in red wine served with Paris mashed potatoes, the succulent boeuf bourguignon, and the light and delicately flavoured pan-fried dory. Most of the dishes are classic French or European offerings, though there are a few interesting Thai-fusion dishes, such as spicy pomelo salad with fried dory. End the meal with the sticky toffee pudding with the sponge saturated in toffee sauce and served with a lovely vanilla ice cream.

Wine

Thanks to the Coravin wine system, diners can order every bottle of wine in the impressive cellar by the glass. There is also a cocktail menu, with accompanying tapas menu for those seated at the bar.
