Setting

This is a Phuket institution for guests wanting to taste premier royal Thai cuisine. Baan Rim Pa has been an island favourite for 26 years and has recently added another fine dining location on the edge of the Andaman Sea at Kalim.

Food

A great way to start is to order chormuang, hand-crafted and steamed rice flour dumplings with crabmeat and chicken. There are a number of local appetisers for Thai cuisine aficionados including a signature dish of kung char Rim Pa sarai sod, a mildly spiced and lemony marinated fresh Andaman Sea grape salad with prawns. Another favourite is kung lai sarong, crispy fried tiger prawns with Phuket yellow noodles and plum dipping sauce. A beautifully executed snapper fish roulade with garlic sauce and vegetables demonstrates the best in creative presentation. Praise-worthy dishes from the curry menu include a superb paneang duck curry with lychee, and a wild betel nut leaf-infused prawn curry. Also try the wonderful dessert of glutinous rice with mango, a testimonial to royal Thai cuisine in Phuket.

Wine

One of the most comprehensive wine lists in Southern Thailand, accorded Wine Spectator’s Two Glass Awards of Excellence. Also a superb selection of whisky, cognac and digestives.
