Chef Arnaud Drouville helms a kitchen producing French, Mediterranean and Thai fusion dishes. Portions are generous and prices very reasonable for comfort foods done well. The openfronted restaurant has a relaxed vibe.

Start light in anticipation of the viands to come. A good opener is Alex salad, a mix of summer greens, bacon bits, poached egg and goat cheese. Alternatively, try tuna tatare with Thai spices and seaweed. It is light and full of flavour. For the main course, burgers, pastas, pizzas and a selection of Thai favourites feature on the menu, but the steaks here are very good. Enjoyed with a choice of sauces—bearnaise, red wine shallot or cream and mushroom—and cooked perfectly to taste, try the tenderloin done chateaubriand-style and served with creamy mashed potato or the 350 gram rib-eye, which arrives sizzling on a hot iron skillet. The daddy of the steaks, however, is a succulent 1.2kg prime rib. It is more than enough for two to share, especially when supplemented by one or two of the extra side dishes that are available. If you still have room, try crepes suzette with orange caramel sauce and Grand Marnier for a sweet finish.
