Spoil yourself with a week-long gastronomic journey made even better with view of the Chao Phraya River this month at the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok. The Culinary Greats features a line-up of eight acclaimed chefs who specialise in various cuisines from French to Sri Lankan between Feb. 18 – 23.

Kick off the festivities on Feb. 18 at Le Normandie with three Michelin-starred Italian chef Umberto Bombana and his signature dishes including the aromatic cheese risotto with Iberico pork pluma and fennel pollen; and mayura signature tenderloin with cheek and truffle jus and melanosporum black truffle. The dinner is priced at 9,500 THB and 12,000 THB with wine pairing.  

At the ‘Four Hands’ lunch on Feb. 19, enjoy French cuisine from two Michelin-starred French chef Julien Royer, who was named Chef of the Year at the World Gourmet Series Awards of Excellence 2014 and Le Normandie’s own chef Arnaud Dunand Sauthier. At 6,500++ THB, indulge in dishes such as chef Julien’s egg yolk ‘tarte’ with cevenness onion, mushroom ketchup and tuber melanosporum; and chef Arnaud’s foie gras with umami oyster, Jerusalem artichoke and bergamot.     

As the sun sets, the dinner session is a joint effort between Michelin-star Korean chef Mingoo Kang, renowned for his specialty in the traditional Korean sauce jang, modern gastronomy chef and the man behind one of Asia’s best bars, Tippling Club, Ryan Clift, and French chef and culinary director at Hong Kong’s Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Richard Ekkebus. The course, which is priced at 7,800++ THB, will feature dishes such as chef Richard’s David Herve ‘royale’ oyster; chef Ryan’s petuna ocean trout with smoked ox tongue and horseradish; and chef Mingoo’s Korean abalone porridge.  

An evening with one Michelin-starred Italian chef Luca Fantin also shouldn’t be missed on Feb 22. At 4,500++ THB, expect quality dishes such as the scallop sweet acid and the cold spaghetti monograno felicetti with caviar. You will also find all kinds sumptuous crab dishes prepared by one of Asia’s best chefs, Sri Lankan chef Dharshan Munidasa at Lord Jim’s during the evening of Feb.23. At 3,500++ THB, you get baked crab, pepper crab, prawn curry bisque and many more.
