Versatile tapas-bar Toro has always been known for surprises and this weekend, diners have yet another surprise to look forward as Toro introduces a new concept called "Chef Battle". 

Two great Thai chefs are set to meet for an intense face-off in a one-night-only paella duel. In one corner, we have Chalee Kader, executive chef and partner of Surface Kitchen, Beer Bridge, Holy Moly and 100 Mahaseth—the latter co-owned with his opponent in fact. Chef Chalee teases us with a dish called ‘Thai-styled Paella De Mar Y Tierra’, which will combine seafood with a touch of Thai chili paste. In the other corner, we have chef Randy Nopprapa, a master of Japanese cuisine who was one of the first to bring the now-trending Omakase sushi to Thailand. Paella-wise, chef Randy is naturally taking the Japanese route tomorrow night with an original ‘Paella De Japonês’. Expect a Nippon twist with ingredients such as tsukune and hotaru-ika.

The battle takes place this weekend on Saturday, March 17 at 7pm till late. A 1,000++ baht entry fee gets you firsthand experience of the chefs special paellas—served hot and fresh— plus 3 glasses of wine from Wine Garage. All diners can cheer for whichever chef they fancy and once you’re done with your meal, you can vote for the winner of the battle. Be there or be square!
