Once again, Thailand’s vegetarian, or jay, festival has come full circle. The festival marks the period when one purifies the body and mind by abstaining from meat and animal products, as well as various strong smelling vegetables such as garlic and onion. Held annually during the ninth lunar month, the festival is originally of Chinese origins, which is why Chinatown tends to be the life of this vegetarian party, so to speak. Though street stalls are a brilliant way to experience authentic Thai-Chinese festival food, if you’re looking for ways to celebrate the meatless season in more upscaled settings, we have a few picks for you:

Fei Ya, Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel

Main dishes are also available, such as crispy vegetarian goose served with pineapple sweet and sour sauce, braised chanterelle mushroom with bean curd and Kudzu noodles served in a clay pot. The wide selection of à la carte menu and dim sum offerings are made daily and come with an all-you-can-eat option.
